Florida West Coast Half Marathon and 5k

Have you been thinking about running a half marathon or 5K run? There are so many options to choose from but not all of them are created equal. One of the most popular events in all of Florida is the Florida West Coast half marathon and 5K run. There are so many unique features of this event that cannot be duplicated by anyone else.

The event is put on by Elite Events, Florida's most recommended event management company. With over 28,000 Facebook fans and more than 18,000 Instagram followers, people really enjoy these events and recommend them to other runners. As for the Florida West Coast half marathon and 5K, here are some of the unique features.

The “Floating Final Mile“ is something that cannot be duplicated by any other event anywhere. The entire last mile is running directly across the lake at Nathan Benderson Park. You can see the finish line for over a mile. This provides runners a scenic view as they make their final push to finish off the race. The floating final mile is run across what is called a wave attenuator. The wave attenuator is a structure that is used for keeping waves at a minimum during rowing events. It is also used by the TV production crews at those same events. For the Florida West Coast half marathon and 5K, it is used as the finish mile!

Runners really enjoy this part of the course because there is nothing else like it. You not only have water on both sides, but you can see other runners at various parts of the course. This provides such a unique atmosphere, it is surely something that you will remember.

Some other great features of the event are finisher medals for both the half marathon and 5K. The medals are always beautifully designed and large.  The shirts are technical dry fit T-shirts that also have a great design. It is not your typical plain cotton T-shirt that most races provide. Other nice features are that there are five deep age group awards. This gives people plenty of opportunity to win an award. A lot of other races only go top three only. Some other nice things that runners really enjoy are the free finish video, free finish photos, and the wide variety of post race snacks and refreshments.
